Lab Technicians – Bank Staff – A pool of talent for the peaks and troughs
Working with a Clinical Research Organisation, the challenge was how to ensure we had Lab Technicians when needed to deal with the peaks and troughs of the industry. When a clinical trial was underway, and the subjects sitting in quarantine, it was essential that all the evidence and samples being collected during the quarantine period, were process swiftly, safely and adhering to “Good Clinical Practice”.
Sourcing a Flexible Workforce, our solution was to look at “back to work mums”, university students, and others looking for part time work. The “back to work mums” wanted hours that worked around their children’s holidays and school hours, the university students wanted work scheduled around their lectures and course work. A win-win situation for all. Scope to have the labs fully staffed, and with people delighted with the flexibility we could offer, to suit their own life demands. During the school holidays, our labs were filled with the university students, gaining commercial experience and practical work, during the term time, we saw fewer students but the “back to work mums” were in, doing meaningful work, utilising their experience and expertise, and sharing their knowledge with those with less commercial experience.
